This position is for a HIM LTC Analyst/Coder whose responsibility is to code appropriate diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT regulations. Communicates with the provider at Liberty Family Medicine and/or Director of HIM. The position also requires administrative functions, including performing maintenance and organization of medical records, and receptionist duties as needed to maintain department coverage. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times while communicating with medical staff, patients, visitors, other departments, and outside agencies. The position reports to the Director of Health Information Management/Privacy Officer.
Minimum education: High school diploma equivalent with completion of an anatomy and physiology course, medical terminology, and certified coding course required. Certified coder preferred. Skills in planning, organizing, verbal and written communication are preferred. Knowledge and training in medical record assembling and analysis required. Licensure/Certifications: RHIT, CCA, CRIS and two years of college preferred. Experience: Basic typing, computer skills, and previous work experience in hospital Health Information Management, Medical Records and Coding.
