Responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department. Primary responsibilities include answering phone calls, scanning documents, emptying binders, reviewing medical documentation and assigned medical codes, tracking and processing requests for release of information (ROI), and following all HIM policies and standards.
Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA standards and health information privacy and confidentiality requirements, especially in behavioral health service areas. Capable of gathering data and compiling information for report preparation.
Physical requirements include use of standard office equipment and computer, effective communication, attention to detail, ability to interpret complex laws and policies, vision for close-range details, multitasking, and lifting up to 30 pounds.

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Coding Certification required. Minimum one (1) year administrative experience preferred. Previous experience in a psychiatric setting preferred. Ability to maintain information as highly confidential. Knowledge of applicable laws, standards, and regulations affecting health information systems, specifically in behavioral health areas.
