Independence Physician Management

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, seeks a certified Medical Coder to provide coding services and support across multiple electronic health record (EHR) systems. The role involves using medical terminology, anatomy, CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes to ensure timely and accurate coding, maintaining compliance with coding policies, and working closely with Billing Department and providers to optimize clinical documentation and charge posting.

Key responsibilities include reconciling charge capture, communication with providers to complete and sign medical documentation, educating providers on documentation, maintaining knowledge of coding guidelines, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The position supports multi-specialty and primary care providers and involves denial management.

Applicants must hold AAPC CPC certification, have 3-5 years of healthcare billing, coding or insurance experience, and be proficient with CPT-4, ICD-10, and billing software such as Cerner, Epic, or IDX. Excellent organization, research, and problem-solving skills are required.

Location: This remote opportunity requires candidates to reside in Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, Delaware, Texas, or Nevada.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Graduate/GED required; Technical School, 2 Years College, or Associates Degree preferred.
  • AAPC CPC certification required.
  • 3-5 years minimum healthcare billing, coding, or insurance experience.
  • Experience with multi-specialty, primary care, internal medicine, and denial management.
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, CPT-4, ICD-10 codes, and relevant coding policies.
  • Familiarity with billing software such as Cerner, Epic, IDX is highly desirable.
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Service-oriented with strong communication abilities.
