Medical Coder II

Metro Vein Centers is a rapidly growing healthcare practice specializing in state-of-the-art vein treatments. Our board-certified physicians and expert staff are dedicated to improving quality of life by relieving symptoms of vein disease such as varicose veins and heavy, aching legs.

The Medical Coder II is responsible for reviewing and accurately coding medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments based on patient records. This role requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and support in denial management are key aspects. The coder must maintain a 96% accuracy rate in monthly quality assurance audits and meet or exceed productivity expectations.

Though ideally located near Detroit, MI, candidates may work fully remotely if residing in one of the operating states (NY, NJ, PA, CT, MI, TX, AZ, IL, GA).

Requirements & Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
  • Strong understanding of 2021 Evaluation and Management coding guidelines
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and CMS/payer documentation requirements
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation
  • Computer literate with ability to efficiently navigate EMR systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful completion of a coding assessment as part of the selection process
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or equivalent certification required
  • Minimum of three years medical coding experience (multispecialty or vascular coding preferred)
  • Experience with Athena EMR preferred
