Performs all inpatient coding functions including coding and DRG accuracy, and timely coding. Works with Coding Manager, CDI team, Business Office, and Case Management. Uses 3M Encoder for accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and classification of medical records. Maintains performance skills and may assist with outpatient coding.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years coding experience, inpatient preferred
- Advanced training in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and APC coding
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to review medical reports and labs related to coding
- Must have high-speed internet and a private workspace to work remotely
- Commitment to compliance with organizational policies and code of conduct
Education/Licensure:
- High school diploma, GED, or higher education
- Certification such as AHIMA RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA, or AAPC Coding Certification required
- Degree or coding education certificate preferred
3 to 5 years inpatient coding experience preferred, advanced knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, APC), understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, computer skills, certification in coding (AHIMA or AAPC), reliable high-speed internet for remote work, compliance with all policies and procedures.
