Coding Manager

Metro Vein Centers is a rapidly growing healthcare practice specializing in state-of-the-art vein treatments, focused on improving quality of life by treating vein disease such as varicose veins and heavy, aching legs.

The Coding Manager oversees daily operations and growth of the medical coding team, ensuring coding quality, documentation integrity, and workflow management. This role provides leadership, coaching, and technical expertise for accurate, compliant coding including denial management. Responsibilities include leading team activities, supporting staff development, collaborating with revenue cycle management leadership, driving change management, automation, software enhancements, and process improvement.

Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring medical coding leaders, monitoring team performance metrics, onboarding and training coders, conducting performance and quality reviews, identifying coding and documentation issues, providing feedback and education, managing coding denials and rejections, supporting reporting and compliance, resolving coding-related payer issues, and assisting with process improvements.

Minimum qualifications require in-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, CMS and payer documentation requirements, strong attention to detail, computer literacy with EMR systems, ability to work independently, team management experience, and excellent communication skills.

Preferred certifications include Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or equivalent. Candidates should have 5+ years of physician revenue cycle and coding experience, 5+ years in management or similar roles, experience with fast growth/change management, preferably with Athena EMR and vascular/vein specialty. A bachelor's degree in business, management, or healthcare-related field is required. A master's degree (MBA or healthcare related) is preferred.
