CPC certification is required prior to hire.
Responsibilities include ensuring all oncology and non-oncology infusion and hospital claims processed through EMR and Athena IDX are accurate and compliant, proper documentation is maintained, physicians comply with dictations and documentation, daily coding and billing of assigned charts, assigning medical codes for general surgery procedures, ensuring billable charges are entered into the billing system, and escalating documentation issues to management.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years medical coding experience preferred.
- At least 2 years ICD & Oncology CPT coding experience preferred.
- Experience working in healthcare and clinical or business office settings.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Procedure entry experience with operative report extraction and coding guidelines preferred.
- Continuing education to stay current with CPT and ICD 9/10 updates.
- AAPC Coding Certification (CPC or ROCC) required including oncology coding area.
- Centricity experience preferred.
- Experience with oncology EMR preferred.
