Under general supervision, reviews medical record documentation to abstract demographic data and assign diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for statistical classification and reimbursement purposes. Performs various coding assignments under the direction of Coding Management. Utilizes software applications and electronic coding references to perform coding related tasks.
Interprets clinical information documented within medical records. Assigns ICD-10-CM, and CPT codes, or DRG’s and APC’s to patient medical records in accordance with established coding guidelines. Meets or exceeds the current minimum coding accuracy rate expectation. Meets or exceeds the minimum coding productivity standards for the type of coding performed. Provides feedback regarding documentation and coding. Participates in departmental coding and educational meetings and trainings. Completes any coding related web-based training or other assigned coding instruction or research. Maintains productivity and daily activities through time tracking software.
Knowledge of coding and coding guidelines. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and keyboarding skills. Oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. - Radiation Oncology Certified Coder (ROCC) AMAC (Radiation Oncology only)
Three or more years of medical related coding experience. Must pass coding proficiency test with minimum score of 70%.
Must hold one of the specified certifications in medical coding. Minimum three years of related medical coding experience. Must pass pre-hire coding proficiency test with at least 70% score. Knowledge and use of coding guidelines. Strong Microsoft Office and keyboarding skills. Good communication, organizational skills, and ability to work independently. Handle fast-paced environment and work collaboratively within a team. Respectful interaction with diverse populations.
