Work schedule is Monday through Friday with exception of weekends for shift differential.
This position offers telecommuting flexibility anywhere within the U.S.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient hospital services,
- Understanding DRG impact with reference to CC/MCC,
- Adhering to official and client coding guidelines,
- Abstracting additional data elements during chart review,
- Following ethical standards of coding per AAPC and/or AHIMA,
- Maintaining coding quality and productivity standards,
- Providing feedback to providers and querying physicians as appropriate,
- Updating coding knowledge through manager dissemination and education,
- Participating in coding meetings and educational events,
- Reviewing and maintaining records of coded charts.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma/GED, professional coder certification (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC) maintained annually, over 3 years' experience in acute care inpatient medical coding including DRG coding mastery of complex procedures, and use of ICD-10-PCS procedure coding.
The hourly pay for this role ranges from $23.89 to $42.69 based on full-time employment and varies with location, education, experience, and certifications.

- High School Diploma or GED
- Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC (RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC), maintained annually
- 3+ years of experience in acute care inpatient medical coding
- 3+ years experience with DRG coding, including complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, cardiology, interventional radiology, orthopedic, and neurology cases
- 3+ years training and experience with ICD-10-PCS coding
- Adherence to ethical standards of coding per AAPC and/or AHIMA
- Ability to maintain coding quality and productivity standards
- Capability to provide documentation feedback and query physicians as needed
- Willingness to participate in ongoing education and coding meetings
