Cardio Certified Coder

The Cardio Certified Coder role requires cardiovascular coding experience and is a hybrid position based in the Houston area. The coder will review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately extract data and apply ICD-10-CM and CPT4 codes and modifiers for billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance, following official coding guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assigning diagnosis, treatment, and procedure codes for outpatient encounters
• Using technical coding principles and APC reimbursement expertise
• Reviewing documentation for accurate data abstraction
• Following coding compliance policies and ethical standards
• Supporting department goals through continuing education and mentoring
• Providing compassionate and personalized experiences to patients and colleagues

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in a medical area preferred
• One of these certifications required: CCS, CPC, CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CMC, or CCA
• Minimum 1 year outpatient coding experience; 6 months HCC experience preferred
• Ability to code multi-specialty physicians including E Levels
• Effective oral and written communication skills

This position reports to the Coding Manager and participates in creating a safe, efficient work environment.
