Forensic Medical Coder

The Forensic Medical Coder is a certified coder expert in front and back end coding, responsible for root cause analysis of coding opportunities, providing education and support to coding teams and providers, and leading coding improvement projects. Duties include research, compliance with policies, communication with physicians and peers, participation in educational activities related to coding and compliance, mentoring, and taking initiative to improve patient and client experiences.

Candidates need experience in multiple specialties such as Cardiology, Ortho, Radiology Oncology, Behavioral Health, and others. This position is remote with possible travel for education or work onsite when required.

Experience and skills required include a minimum of 4 years coding experience (5 preferred), knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, Microsoft Office, EPIC, dual coding certification (CPC or CCS), and openness to innovation including AI.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years coding experience required, 5 years preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of physician front and back end coding across multiple specialties
  • Expert knowledge and ability to educate coding teams and providers
  • Certified AAPC or AHIMA coder (CPC or CCS)
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and EPIC coding software
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Mobile phone access with adequate data
  • Willingness to travel as required
