Senior Specialty Coder – Cardiology

Join as a Senior Specialty Coder focusing on cardiology to ensure accurate and compliant assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and outpatient services. This role supports optimized revenue integrity by collaborating with clinical and revenue cycle teams and maintaining high coding accuracy of 95% or higher.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and assigning codes for inpatient and outpatient encounters
  • Maintaining coding accuracy and meeting productivity benchmarks
  • Abstracting clinical data and entering coded information into EMR systems like EPIC and Meditech
  • Collaborating with Health Information Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement specialists, and revenue cycle teams to resolve documentation gaps and denials
  • Communicating with providers regarding documentation and assisting with appeals and coding-related audits

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of multi-specialty physician coding experience in cardiology
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with billing, denials, appeals, or revenue cycle operations
  • Must have a laptop and dual monitors for remote work capability
  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • CPC (AAPC), CCS (AHIMA), or CCA (AHIMA) certification preferred

The position is full-time onsite in Irving, Texas, with a temp-to-perm opportunity. Hourly compensation ranges from $35.75 to $42.18 depending on certification status.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • CPC (AAPC), CCS (AHIMA), or CCA (AHIMA) certification preferred
  • Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program
  • Minimum 2 years coding experience in cardiology
  • Minimum 1 year experience with billing, denials, appeals, or revenue cycle operations
  • Experience with EMR systems including EPIC and Meditech
  • Must have own laptop and dual monitors for remote work
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Good job stability with minimum 1 year at previous roles
  • Successful background checks, education and employment verification, drug screen, and clerical testing prior to hire
