Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking an Ambulatory CDI Specialist to join their team as a remote position (residency required in Kentucky or Indiana).
This role involves evaluating clinical documentation using coding and clinical expertise to ensure accurate and specific coding, identifying HCC diagnosis codes, and ensuring documentation reflects medical necessity and patient acuity. The specialist provides guidance and education to providers, medical assistants, practice managers, and ancillary staff on best practices in clinical documentation. The position requires a self-motivated, flexible, confident presenter capable of remote work and traveling for internal meetings.
Requirements include a minimum of 2 years professional medical group coding experience, knowledge of ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, CPT coding, CMS and HHS HCC coding and risk adjustment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Preferred experience includes use of Epic or other major EMR systems and experience presenting education to coders or providers. Clinical experience is a plus.
Certification requirements: Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P), or equivalent certification from AAPC, AHIMA or other recognized organization. An additional advanced certification is required within one year of hire (e.g., Certified Risk Adjustment Coder - CRC).
- Minimum 2 years of professional medical group coding experience

- Familiarity with CMS HCC, HHS HCC, Rx HCC coding and risk adjustment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Active CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent coding certification
- Advanced certification within one year of hire (e.g., CRC) required
Preferred:
- Experience with Epic or other EMR software
- Experience presenting educational sessions to providers or coders
- Clinical experience is a plus
