Coding/Compliance Denials Analyst

This role focuses on developing outpatient coding education, researching complex outpatient coding denials, and conducting risk-based coding compliance audits of outpatient encounters to ensure compliance with official coding guidelines, clinical documentation, and payer guidelines.

You will create audit reports with clear recommendations for coders, auditors, managers, and directors, identify documentation issues affecting coding accuracy, and stay current with AHA Official Coding and Reporting Guidelines, CMS, AAPC, ICD-10-CM, and CPT coding updates through courses and workshops.

The role includes performing other assigned duties and ensuring compliance with Texas Education Code 51.215 regarding criminal history records.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of coding experience, including hospital outpatient encounters
  • Minimum 5 years of coding audit or quality review experience, including outpatient encounters
  • At least 1 year of experience preparing and delivering education related to audit findings or regulatory guidance
  • Certifications required upon hire: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) or CEMC (Certified E/M Coder) or CPC-I (AAPC Approved Instructor Certification)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of AHA Official Coding Guidelines, CMS, AAPC directives, ICD-10-CM, and CPT coding updates
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex coding and documentation issues clearly
