Southcoast Behavioral Health, located in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, is a premier mental health treatment center serving pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, as well as adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
We are seeking Medical Coder candidates open to PRN shifts.
As a Medical Coder, you will be responsible for assigning ICD-9-CM diagnostic and procedural codes to patient accounts accurately based on patient records and physician documentation.
You will assign appropriate codes using ICD-9 and/or CPT for diagnoses, procedures, and services, ensuring correct coding to facilitate reimbursement from insurance or government healthcare programs.
You will read and analyze patient records to extract precise information from documentation, test results, and reports, maintain confidentiality of patient care information, clarify diagnosis and treatment details with physicians, and inform administrators of any discrepancies noted.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certificate or associate’s degree in medical coding or related field preferred.
Two or more years of medical billing, collections, or coding experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required.
Medical Coding Certificate preferred.
