Inpatient Coder

Enjoin is a leader in clinical documentation improvement solutions focused on physician-led, quality-driven services. The Inpatient Coder position involves assigning all reportable diagnoses and procedures accurately for inpatient medical record coding.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coding all diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS for accurate DRG assignment.
  • Capturing Present on Admission indicators and secondary diagnoses impacting quality outcomes (such as Risk of Mortality, Severity of Illness, Social Determinants of Health, HCC).
  • Capturing procedures that impact facility reimbursement, including add-on payment codes.
  • Validating discharge disposition accuracy.
  • Staying current with official coding guidelines and ethical coding standards by AHIMA.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: CCS, RHIT, and/or RHIA required.
  • Minimum 3 years acute inpatient hospital coding experience, preferably in a level I trauma hospital.
  • Experience with EHR and encoder software (EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, 3M, Optum).
  • Ability to work independently remotely.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time remote position, Monday to Friday, business hours.

Requirements & Qualifications

CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification. 3+ years inpatient coding experience in trauma/teaching hospital. Proficiency with EHR and encoder software. Ability to work independently from home. Strong communication and analytical skills.
