BayCare is seeking a Medical Records Outpatient Coder III to work remotely full-time (candidates must reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina).
The role involves reviewing short stay focused encounters to accurately assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems. The coder will collaborate with various departments to address missing documentation and monitor bill hold reports. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is required. The position includes mentoring and training of junior coders and clinical practice students.
Required coding experience includes emergency room (ED), same day surgery (ambulatory), and observation cases.

- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Health Information Management preferred
- Minimum 5 years of outpatient facility coding experience
- Strong CPT coding skills
- Experience in emergency room, ambulatory same day surgery, and observation coding
- Must reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina for remote work eligibility
