Senior Coder Abstractor - Inpatient

As a Senior Coder Abstractor - Inpatient, you will analyze medical records to determine coding and abstraction, assign ICD10-CM, ICD10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes according to guidelines and ethics, abstract and edit medical record data, enter charges for various procedures, and collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will maintain an organized system of coding reference materials and participate in ongoing educational activities to maintain coding skills.

Requirements & Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information, or CCS certification with at least 2 years of coding experience.

Certification required as Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

1-3 years of experience using ICD10-CM and ICD10-PCS coding systems.

Proven ability to meet productivity and quality standards.

Minimum of two years inpatient coding experience, including complex diagnoses and procedures.

Experience with prebilling processes and collaboration with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) specialists.

Must comply with vaccination requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and annual flu vaccination unless medically or religiously exempt.
