Director, PB Coding Operations & Education

The Director of PB Coding Operations and Education is responsible for providing coding oversight and standards to ensure coding accuracy, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement across BUMG. This role manages operational execution of coding standards in areas reporting to Revenue Cycle, including oversight of coding training. The Director manages coding staff to ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulatory agencies, and appropriate reimbursement for services rendered.

Key responsibilities include facilitating accurate professional coding and clinical documentation, directing coding activities for accuracy and compliance, ensuring quality reviews, participating in denials and claims review processes, identifying documentation and coding trends, and collaborating with leadership for corrective actions. This position also involves personnel management, mentorship, productivity monitoring, and promoting professional growth through education and workshops.

This is a full-time role with a remote work option.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in professional coding with ICD-9/ICD-10, E/M, and CPT
  • Prior management experience with education, mentoring, and training
  • Expertise in ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and E&M coding principles and guidelines
  • Knowledge of MS, AP, APR DRG systems, APG, EAPGs
  • Familiarity with payer reimbursement methodologies and compliance standards
  • Excellent written, verbal, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Ability to provide hands-on education and mentorship to providers and staff
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and workload
