Certified Medical Coder

The Certified Medical Coder reviews all patient charts to ensure proper and accurate coding per CMS guidelines and payer requirements.

Responsibilities include reviewing patient charts, interpreting medical information, confirming appropriate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers, ensuring all possible codes are captured within claims to maximize billing, querying providers for documentation clarification, assisting providers with coding questions, and communicating current coding information to providers.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma/GED (Associate degree or higher preferred), medical coding certification (AAPC or other reliable source required), at least 1 year medical coding experience (3+ preferred), knowledge in medical coding for areas such as Primary Care, Podiatry, STI, Pediatric, Infectious Disease preferred. Familiarity with billing, coding, or Articles 28, 31, or 32 is preferred. Awareness of health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential.

Job type: Full-time, hybrid schedule.

Salary offer depends on candidate's skills, experience, education, equity, and market considerations.

Requirements & Qualifications
