This full-time day-shift role is located at 601 E Rollins St, Orlando, FL 32803.
The role involves querying physicians for clarifications, applying ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, MS-DRG codes, Present on Admission codes, and patient status codes. Duties include reviewing admission source, discharge disposition, assigning procedure details, ensuring timely coding within days of discharge, analyzing clinical documentation, optimizing DRG options, verifying CAC codes, and collaborating with physicians and clinicians to ensure accurate documentation and optimal reimbursement.
Candidates need thorough knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodology, coding guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office and encoder software. Strong communication, critical thinking, and independent work skills in a remote setting are required.
Education requires at least a high school diploma and preferably an associate degree in Health Information Management or medical coding certification.
Experience requires 3+ years inpatient hospital coding, including specialized surgical and tertiary care facility cases. Preferred is experience with more complex coding such as cardiovascular, neurological, and transplant cases.
Licenses must include one of the following: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC.
