Supervisor - Inpatient Coding

Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a Supervisor - Coding - Inpatient to join our Coding team. This individual has flexibility to work from any Aspirus Facility or remotely.

Under collaboration with the Coding Manager/Director, the Supervisor of Coding plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the functional Coding area they oversee. Responsibilities include supervising and providing oversight of day-to-day operations of inpatient coding and staff, workflow process management, staff scheduling, productivity monitoring, coaching and training, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions, and managing direct reports.

The position collaborates closely with inpatient CDI team, providers, and revenue cycle staff on projects and system initiatives.

Hours: Full Time, 1.0 FTE, 80 hours biweekly.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or other health-related field preferred.
  • Associate degree required.
  • Expert knowledge of ICD-10 and PCS Coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Five years of technical or professional coding experience applicable to management role.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Understanding of revenue cycle practices and multiple reimbursement systems.
  • Experience with electronic coding systems; EPIC preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIA or RHIT certification required.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications.
  • Strong resourcefulness, innovation, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Travel to local and regional sites may be required.
