Supervisor - Coding Auditing & Education, O-CDI

Aspirus Health in Wausau, WI is seeking a Supervisor of Auditing & Education and Outpatient CDI to join our Coding team.

In collaboration with the Coding Manager/Director, the Supervisor plans, directs, and coordinates activities in the coding area. This role supervises and provides day-to-day oversight of the auditing and education team and outpatient CDI, including workflow management, staff scheduling, productivity monitoring, coaching, training, hiring, and disciplinary actions. The Supervisor collaborates with other departments, providers, system leadership, and revenue cycle staff on projects and system initiatives.

Qualifications include expert knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and HCPCS coding; medical terminology; and at least five years of technical or professional coding experience applicable to management. Supervisory experience is preferred. Candidates must possess certifications such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT. Knowledge of revenue cycle processes, EPIC, Microsoft applications, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required. Some local and regional travel, including overnight, may be necessary.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related health field
  • Expert knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and HCPCS coding
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • 5+ years coding experience applicable to management
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), RHIA, or RHIT certification required
  • Experience with electronic coding systems; knowledge of EPIC preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft applications skills
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution abilities
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work within a team environment
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally including overnight stays
