Coder RMG (Labor Pool)

Riverside Medical Group - Peninsula - Physician Admin

This position is remote work eligible for candidates residing in FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MS, NC, OK, SC, SD, TN, VA.

Ensures high quality documentation that is thorough, accurate, and complete to ensure correct reimbursement capture. Assigns diagnostic and procedure codes to medical records ranging from simple to highly complex. Reviews charts and entire medical records, assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, while auditing documentation and querying clinical staff to clarify incomplete or conflicting information. Collaborates with physicians for coding clarification to ensure accurate coding.

Utilizes ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems to assign diagnostic, procedural, and complication codes to all claims, maintaining a coding accuracy of 90% or better.

Meets productivity standards set by nationally recognized organizations and specialty-specific levels.

Adheres to standardized coding standards, conventions, regulations, corporate compliance policies, and reimbursement guidelines. Participates in specialty-specific coding training.

Maintains positive relationships with providers (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners). Works closely with VP/Medical Director of RMG. Assists patient financial services with coding and billing questions. Mentors and trains other coders and participates in developing coding policies and procedures. Coordinates and mentors designated coding employees to ensure quality and quantity of work through audits.

Requirements & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED minimum.

Preferred: 1 year of ICD-10 coding experience in medical practice.

Required upon hire: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) certification from AAPC.

Applicants must provide their AAPC certification number on the application or resume.
