The Coding Specialist is a functional member of Central Business Services at SMG, responsible for timely, accurate, and comprehensive review of provider claims to optimize reimbursement and ensure regulatory compliance. The specialist works with the department to identify trends and educate providers for proper coding, documentation, and billing accuracy within their specialty.
Required Qualifications:
- National Certified Inpatient Coder or National Certified Professional Coder or National Certified Coding Specialist (American Health Information Management Association) or National Registered Health Information Technician or National Registered Health Information Administrator upon hire.
- 2 years of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience for clinic and hospital based inpatient and outpatient professional billing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or equivalent technical school completion of a certified coding program plus 2 to 3 years related coding experience. Applicants with relevant education and/or experience will be considered.
