Senior Professional Coding and Documentation Improvement Specialist

Capital Health is a leading healthcare organization providing quality patient care through hospitals, outpatient centers, and a network of primary and specialty providers. This full-time role is focused on leading complex coding reviews, optimizing physician documentation, and improving coding accuracy and compliance. The specialist will coordinate physician education, support audit responses, analyze record reviews, and deliver customized education programs to ensure accurate and compliant documentation.

The position requires strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM, HCPCS coding, industry guidelines, and physician documentation standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to work with multiple EMR systems are necessary.

This role offers a 40-hour workweek, with a typical 8-hour day schedule. The position supports large group education sessions and collaborates closely with management on workflow, training, and compliance efforts.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in health information management preferred
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) required
  • Three years' experience in professional physician coding with monitoring and education experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, CM, and HCPCS coding
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of pathophysiology and disease processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and deliver coding education programs
  • Ability to work in environments with multiple EMR systems and independently
