HIM Specialty Coder II

The HIM Specialty Coder II position involves accurate review, coding, and abstraction of patient medical records across inpatient, outpatient, and professional settings to ensure proper diagnoses, procedures, and services coding for billing and reimbursement.

The role requires advanced knowledge of ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines, reimbursement methodologies, and compliance regulations. Responsibilities include assigning codes, calculating DRGs and APCs, ensuring data accuracy, escalating coding or billing issues, and maintaining high coding accuracy standards. The coder also communicates coding clarifications with providers and keeps current with coding regulations.

The position is full-time day shift, non-exempt, with wage $23.92-$29.90 per hour (hourly wage noted, no annual salary provided).

Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, formal training in anatomy, medical terminology and coding, two years of multi-specialty coding experience with all payer types, and relevant certifications such as RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, or equivalent. Additional specialty certification expected within 6 months of hire.
