Associate's Degree in Medical Record Science, Health Information Technology, or related field, or a certificate in medical coding. Must have or obtain certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CHIM, CCS, CPC (or CPC-A with completion within 27 months), or CCA (if appointed before July 2022). For Trauma Program assignment, completion of Trauma Registry and Abbreviated Injury Scale courses within 36 months, ICD-10 refresher every 5 years, and 8 trauma-related CE credits per year. Degree must be accredited or verified for equivalency for foreign degrees.
