Medical Collection Specialist

In-depth knowledge of Procedural Coding, specialist in identifying appropriate ICD10 coding based on CMS/HCC categories, CPT, HCPCS, CMS 1500 FORM, Super Bill, Electronic Claims Submission and Clearing House Operations, EOB, Payments, Denials, and appeals.

High School Diploma required. Minimum 1 year of experience in billing and/or medical collections. ECW experience preferred. Pathology Billing experience. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write and speak English. Computer skills required including MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, Electronic Health Records, authorization systems, email, and fax.

Preferred CPC certification.

Skills include excellent communication, customer service, telephone skills, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to work independently, maintain patient confidentiality, dependability, professional conduct, computer proficiency, and adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include identifying denial trends and recommending resolutions, processing rejections/denials and resubmitting claims, appealing denied claims and follow-ups, answering patient or insurer billing questions, reviewing patient data for denial causes, communicating with insurance companies, requesting adjustments for outstanding balances, maintaining accurate chart notes, following up on denials before appeal deadlines, and other assigned duties.
