We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding systems and terminology, as well as experience in managing medical records and billing processes. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate coding for patient diagnoses and procedures, which directly impacts billing and reimbursement processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
  • Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to assign appropriate codes for services rendered.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and compliance regulations.
  • Assist in the management of medical billing processes, ensuring timely submission of claims.
  • Conduct audits of coded records to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide support in medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving issues as needed.

Skills:

  • Proficient in medical coding, including familiarity with ICD-10 and other relevant coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and its application in coding practices.
  • Experience with medical records management and the ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
  • Knowledge of medical billing processes and regulations within a medical office setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex medical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding practices.

This role is onsite at our office in Cave Spring, VA, and is not a remote position.

Salary is paid hourly at $22.00 - $28.00 per hour.

Requirements & Qualifications

Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 and medical coding systems. Experience in reviewing medical records for accurate coding. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Understanding of medical billing and compliance regulations.
