The Quality Assurance & Coding Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations in home health services delivery. This role combines clinical documentation review, OASIS accuracy, and ICD-10 coding expertise to support high-quality patient care and optimal reimbursement. The specialist collaborates with clinical staff to improve documentation standards, ensure coding accuracy, and drive quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities include reviewing and coding home health documentation for accuracy with ICD-10, OASIS, and CMS guidelines; auditing clinical documentation; providing clinician feedback and education; collaborating with QA and Operations teams; identifying trends and training needs; assisting in audits and quality reporting; ensuring compliance with Medicare, CMS, and state home health regulations; and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications required are current Home Health Coding Certification (HCS-D, BCHH-C, or equivalent), minimum 2 years coding and QA experience in home health, strong knowledge of OASIS and CMS requirements, attention to detail, organizational skills, communication skills for clinician education, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Required skills include strong ICD-10 coding knowledge, proficiency with OASIS-E, experience with EMR systems such as AXXESS, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and training abilities.
This is an in-person position in Niles, IL.
