At Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & SurgiCenter (MMC), a physician-owned multi-specialty clinic, the Insurance Follow-Up Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for healthcare services.
Responsibilities include reviewing and tracking unpaid insurance claims, following up with insurance companies, resubmitting corrected claims, investigating and resolving claim denials, preparing and submitting appeals with supporting documentation, communicating professionally with insurance representatives and patients, coordinating with billing and front-office staff, generating reports on outstanding claims and collection progress, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and insurance guidelines.
Qualifications needed are a high school diploma or equivalent, 1-2 years of experience in medical billing or insurance follow-up, knowledge of medical terminology and insurance claim processes, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in practice management software and Microsoft Office.
This is a full-time position within a provider's office with standard office hours, focused on reducing outstanding accounts receivable, resolving denied claims timely, and maintaining accuracy and efficiency in claim follow-up activities.
