Health Partners Management Group, Inc (HPMG), a government contracting company, is hiring an Inpatient Medical Coder. This role focuses on the accurate assignment of ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures related to inpatient stays. Responsibilities include coding inpatient diagnoses, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and quantities from medical records, educating MTF staff on coding issues, and supporting coding compliance activities.
Candidates must have strong communication and computer skills and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, medical terminology, inpatient coding guidelines, documentation standards, medications, and reimbursement guidelines. Encoder experience is required.
Preferred certifications include RHIT, RHIA, COC, CIC, and CCS. Medical coders must maintain their certifications through continuing education. A minimum of five years coding or auditing experience in multiple medical specialties within the last ten years is required, or three years at an MTF. One year of specialty performance must be documented.
Key performance outcomes include: accurate assignment of inpatient codes and DRGs, use of military coding systems such as MHS GENESIS, ensuring compliance with DHA and DoD standards, researching and resolving edit failures, and educating medical providers through queries. Additional knowledge of reimbursement systems, regulatory guidelines, and military healthcare systems (AHLTA, CHCS, DEERS, Essentris, CCE) is necessary.
The position involves primarily sedentary work with some walking, standing, bending, and lifting medical records. Use of multiple computer systems is required.

This is a full-time remote position with an hourly pay starting at $32.00.
- Minimum 5 years medical coding/auditing experience across two or more specialties within the past 10 years, or 3 years if at a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
