Professional Coding Manager

Work hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hybrid schedule with 3 days remote and 2 days onsite.

Responsible for day-to-day operation of coding functions in Health Information Management Department. Collaborate with Director of Health Information Management on departmental goals and action plans. Ensure accurate and compliant coding practices, communicate with healthcare providers and staff to resolve documentation and coding issues, and adhere to government regulations and organizational compliance.

Maintains coding policies and procedures, updates and educates coding staff. Oversees second level chart review to ensure accurate diagnoses and documentation. Develops staffing plans, recruits, orients, trains, and evaluates coding staff. Manages resources, space, equipment, supplies, and budget. Oversees onsite and remote coding operations.

One of the following certifications required: CPC, CIC, or COC.

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in related field recommended.

Requires 5 years relevant experience including 1 year leadership or 7 years experience without diploma including 1 year leadership.

Responsible for departmental goals, policies, staffing, education, financial performance, and coding accuracy to support hospital mission and compliance.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (equivalent) required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field recommended
  • 5 years of relevant experience including at least 1 year in leadership role, or 7 years experience if no diploma
  • Certification required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of coding policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
