The Coding Coordinator monitors operations, functions, workflow, and services by third-party suppliers for HIM Coding. Collaborates with Coding Manager and physicians to ensure timely and complete documentation. Manages supplier assignments per agreements.
Acts as liaison between healthcare providers and third-party suppliers to eliminate roadblocks, resolve issues, optimize processes, and develop cost-saving measures.
Uses key performance metrics to track services and monitor supplier compliance with KPIs and CPIs.
Communicates potential issues to management, assists in policy/procedure development, and educates clinicians on coding and documentation improvement.
Performs routine coding quality reviews as needed and maintains confidentiality of patient health information.
Qualifications include Associate's degree or equivalent experience; 4 years of experience; and one of the following certifications: CCS, CCS-P, CIC, CIRCC, COC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.
- Associate's degree or 2+ years of relevant work experience
- 4 years of experience in medical coding or related field
- Certification required: one of CCS, CCS-P, CIC, CIRCC, COC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT
- Expertise in ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedural coding
- Critical thinking skills for documentation review
- Excellent communication skills and team collaboration abilities
