Nebraska Methodist Health System is dedicated to providing exceptional care to the communities it serves. The Certified Coder I position, located at the Methodist Corporate Office in Omaha, NE, involves coding professional charges and hospital services to ensure accurate billing.

The role includes reviewing doctor dictation and assigning CPT and ICD-10-CM codes, ensuring timely claim submissions, maintaining productivity standards across various service encounters, assigning appropriate CPT codes per coding guidelines, reviewing hospital billing charges with physicians, investigating claim denials, and updating coding manuals according to Medicare and commercial payer correspondence.

The position operates Monday through Friday, full-time, day shift.

Education requires a high school diploma or GED; college-level courses in anatomy, physiology, biology, disease process, and medical terminology are required. An associate's degree in Health Information Management or related healthcare degree is preferred. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), or registration as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required.

Prior healthcare registration, customer service, insurance, or billing experience is preferred.

Physical requirements include light work with occasional physical activities such as balancing, carrying, crouching, lifting, pulling/pushing, standing, stooping, twisting, and walking, with frequent sitting, grasping, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, and constant hearing, keyboarding, and seeing.
