Medical Coding Supervisor

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring a Medical Coding Supervisor to join our Coding Department. This is a remote, full-time day shift position based in New Mexico. The candidate must have a permanent address in New Mexico or be willing to relocate. Occasional visits to the Albuquerque office may be required in case of technical issues.

The role oversees the daily operations of the medical coding team ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and third-party billing regulations. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, staffing, coding reviews, revenue cycle initiatives, and serving as a subject matter expert on documentation and coding requirements to ensure optimal reimbursement and compliance.

Key duties include supervising coding staff, training, enforcing procedures, monitoring performance, conducting audits, working with providers and leadership on coding and billing education, and maintaining confidentiality of medical records.

Minimum requirements: High School diploma or GED, 3 years medical coding experience including 1 year supervisory experience, and certification (CPC, CPC-P, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT). Degree substitutions are accepted. Verification of education and licensure required upon hire.
