Associate Pharmacy Analyst

The Associate Pharmacy Analyst supports the pharmacy department's operational efficiency by coordinating fiscal management activities, performing data analysis, and maintaining departmental statistics and reports. Responsibilities include database development, project management, cost accounting, and IT tasks working with clinical pharmacists, medical staff, and administration. The role may involve interacting with patients and insurance companies to coordinate coverage or financial assistance.

Key duties include monitoring medication charges, facilitating charge master updates, assuring indigent care program utilization, prioritizing medication authorizations, verifying insurance eligibility, researching departmental issues, maintaining payer payment provisions, optimizing automated systems, assisting with budget reviews and data reports, reviewing expenditure activities, and interacting with hospital departments. The associate supports pharmacy committees by providing financial data for drug evaluations and therapeutic interchange opportunities, participates in staff education, assists with medication denials and appeals, monitors medication usage trends, maintains vendor relationships, supports informatics projects, and provides inventory and pricing analysis.

Physical demands require the ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds. Work is performed onsite in Morgantown, WV. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access is required.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Management, Hospital Administration, Accounting, or Finance, OR
  • Associate's degree in related fields with 2 years pharmacy experience or 1 year financial reporting experience, OR
  • High School Diploma with National Pharmacy Technician certification within 15 months of hire plus 3-4 years healthcare or financial/data analytics experience
  • Preferred: experience in medical billing, coding, prior authorizations, patient enrollment in medication/copay assistance programs, healthcare informatics
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Access
