Overview: Confluence Health is a healthcare system providing comprehensive medical care in North Central Washington. The Facility Coder - Certified reviews medical records to extract data and apply accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for billing, reporting, and compliance. This role supports inpatient, ambulatory, observation, emergency department, radiology, outpatient, and infusion coding using ICD-10CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS following official guidelines and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10CM/PCS, CPT, modifiers, and HCPCS codes accurately using electronic encoders.
- Code inpatient principal and additional diagnoses and procedures as per UHDDS and official coding guidelines.
- Understand DRG, MCC, and CC for inpatient coding.
- Review accounts and charges within EPIC EHR.
- Adjust coding for Part A/B rebilling and apply infusion administration charges.
- Support coding audits and provide rebuttal letters.
- Stay current with billing guidelines, reimbursement rules, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and documentation specialists to resolve coding issues.
- Participate in educational activities and maintain departmental coding standards.

- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of coding experience or equivalent education
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, medical terminology, anatomy, insurance billing
- Understanding of DRG's for inpatient coding
- Basic computer skills (spreadsheets, word processing)
- Certified coding credential from AAPC (CPC/CPC-A/CIC/COC) or AHIMA (CCA/CCS/CCS-P/RHIA/RHIT)
Preferred:
- Experience with EPIC EHR
- Experience with Nuance Clintegrity encoder
- Additional coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA
