- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using coding systems such as ICD-10-CM and CPT.
- Ensure all coding aligns with current medical guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Accurately interpret medical terminology, physician notes, and documentation to support precise coding.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing teams to clarify documentation discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record systems to access, review, and update patient records.
- Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pathology, ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
- Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex medical documentation.
- Effective communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently managing multiple priorities.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred but not mandatory.
