Advanced Inpatient Coder Specialist

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coder Specialist to join their team remotely (must reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina). This full-time position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The role involves analyzing complex multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient medical records to assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. Responsibilities include collaboration with medical staff for accurate coding of intricate diagnoses like malnutrition and sepsis, physician query formulation, and liaison duties with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams. The Specialist supports mentoring and training of Coder I, II, III team members and clinical students.

Required qualifications include Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, 5 years acute care experience, and 3 years inpatient coding experience.
