Integrative Emergency Services, LLC (IES) is seeking a Coding Specialist focused on surgical services to accurately assign CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM codes for surgical professional fee coding and documentation review. The role supports documentation integrity, identifies coding compliance risks such as undercoding, overcoding, and unbundling, and contributes to clean claim submission and optimal reimbursement through coding analysis, audits, and special projects. Work is performed in a hybrid setting at the corporate office in North Dallas, TX.
Responsibilities include: reviewing medical records for accurate, compliant code assignment; ensuring adherence to CMS and payer guidelines; conducting claim reviews to reduce denials; auditing coding accuracy; analyzing denials; collaborating with providers to improve documentation; and serving as a surgical coding subject matter expert.
Qualifications include: high-level knowledge of surgery-related medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding; strong surgical coding experience; proficiency auditing and analyzing reports; ability to evaluate coding for medical necessity and compliance; and strong communication and analytical skills.
Required education and experience: high school diploma or equivalent, minimum five years professional medical coding experience with surgical focus, active coding certification such as CPC or CCS-P.
Preferred qualifications: Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA), experience with internal audits and CMS Part B/commercial payer methodologies.
Work environment includes hybrid schedule with remote days Monday/Friday and on-site Tuesday-Thursday 8am-5pm. Some travel may be required.
