They review patient transport records, assign CPT and ICD-10 codes in compliance with payer guidelines, complete post-service audits, and collaborate with providers and departments to ensure accurate charges and timely billing for emergent, air medical charter, and donor services programs. They act as coding experts, educate clinical staff on documentation and billing standards, and perform daily, weekly, and monthly analytics for the medical transport service line.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating all coding components, researching, and resolving provider and facility claim issues
- Reviewing patient care records for coding accuracy and conducting audits
- Educating staff on documentation and timely billing
- Serving as a team member providing quotes, payment collection, and authorization for transports
- Maintaining transport documentation and liaising with accounts services on payment and denial reconciliations
Skills:
