Speech-Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides 1:1 communication assessment and intervention to infants and toddlers in home and/or clinic-based settings. Key responsibilities include conducting speech therapy, parent education and training regarding developmental disabilities, documenting clinical outcomes, and acting as an advocate.

The role involves working independently with infants and families, integrating parent coaching, coordinating schedules, maintaining productivity, assessing speech and language development, oral-motor assessments, and collaborating with other professionals such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, developmental specialists, physicians, and agencies.

Additional duties include participating in staff meetings, providing in-service training, mandated abuse reporting, recognizing families in crisis, and providing appropriate referrals.

Requires a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and licensure to practice in California. Preferred experience is 1+ years working with children or individuals with disabilities.

Environmental conditions involve considerable travel primarily to client homes, physical activity during training with children, occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, pollen, and computer work.

Requirements & Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with California licensure.

Preferred: 1+ years related experience with children or people with disabilities.

  • Child development: knowledge of typical and atypical infant/toddler developmental patterns
  • Evaluation and assessment: appropriate practices for infants/toddlers with special needs, interpreting assessment results

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in team and family dynamics
  • Flexibility in scheduling and prioritization
