Research Assistant

Augusta University

The Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at Augusta University Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant to support a variety of research projects. The role includes database creation and maintenance, participation in multicenter observational studies, screening and enrolling patients in a randomized prospective clinical trial, and supporting ongoing retrospective studies. The position works closely with Physician Principal Investigators to help meet project goals and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and participate in monthly research meetings
  • Screen, recruit, and obtain consent/enrollment from patients for research studies
  • Obtain samples from enrolled patients; training will be provided
  • Ensure protocol compliance and completion of regulatory requirements
  • Assist with manuscript preparation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in a research or clinical setting
  • Or an associate's degree in one of the same fields plus a minimum of three years of experience in a research or clinical area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with social/behavioral science or public health research is desirable

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to use sound judgment and work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
