This role focuses on maintaining medical records and supporting health information management workflows in a federal healthcare setting.
- Scans, indexes, and files non-electronic medical and administrative documents
- Maintains daily logs of scanned, filed, and indexed documents
- Responds to requests for information in a positive and efficient manner
- Performs qualitative reviews of scanned documents completed by self and others
Requirements & Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- May be subject to a probationary period
- Must successfully complete a federal background investigation
- Must satisfy financial suitability requirements
- Must comply with IHS immunization policy if assigned to an IHS healthcare facility
- Work schedule may include 24/7 coverage, holidays, and weekends
- Must be able to perform physical duties including prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, pushing carts, and climbing stairs
- GS-5 qualification options:
- 4 years of education above high school related to the position, or
- 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-4 level involving medical record review, scanning, indexing, filing, quality control, release of information, and record tracking
- GS-6 qualification option:
- 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-5 level involving medical record maintenance, release of information, quality assurance audits, and analysis of medical records
- No education requirements for the position; education may be substituted for experience
