The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for assembling, organizing, and maintaining patients' health information and charts. This role performs basic administrative, operational, customer support, and data-entry tasks, primarily on routine, structured assignments, and reports to the Center Administrator.
- Ensure all medical forms are identified, completed, and signed
- Enter required patient information into the electronic records system
- Communicate with physicians and staff to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information
- Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Operate within defined work expectations, quality standards, and priorities under close supervision and established guidelines
Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Weekly hours: 40.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2+ years of medical records experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to quickly learn new systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel locally, with occasional overnight stays
- Commitment to enhancing consumer experiences within a continuous improvement environment
- Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Preferred: Previous healthcare or health insurance experience
- Preferred: Familiarity with medical terminology and/or ICD-9 codes
