The Health Information Coordinator (Medical Records) supports staff and oversees the HIM department by helping monitor and maintain complete health records for all persons served. This role requires accuracy, thoroughness, and professional communication with staff, stakeholders, persons served, and families.
The position reports to the Administrator or designee and works closely with the Director of Nursing, Program Director/Clinical Director, and other department heads. Consultation, advice, training, and mentorship in technical record matters are provided through the corporate Health Information Department as needed based on program regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience working in a health-related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic computer, typing, and data entry skills
- General office skills, including filing and organizing
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in clerical procedures and computers
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to work systematically and take initiative without continuous supervision
- Ability to work well within a team
- Knowledge of governing regulations
