The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I within VRC's VitalChart department processes requests for medical records accurately and efficiently for healthcare clients. This role is responsible for safeguarding patient privacy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and applicable federal/state regulations, and maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
The position handles medical record requests, validates authorizations, uploads requested chart portions, completes quality checks, and supports invoicing and client communication. The role may involve on-site and/or remote healthcare facility assignments, which are subject to change.
Minimum qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred
- Prior experience with ROI fulfillment preferred
- Basic knowledge of medical records and HIPAA preferred
- Prior experience with EHR/EMR platforms preferred
- Prior experience using Windows and Microsoft Office products
- Strong computer skills, documentation skills, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, organize, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity/quality
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused for extended periods
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English; bilingual skills are desirable
Additional experience preferred
- Experience with printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, and microfilm reader/printers
- Strong interpersonal skills with team members, clients, and requestors
