Health Information Specialist I

Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform focused on making health data secure, accessible, and actionable. This role supports release of information (ROI) operations by processing medical record requests accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with privacy and HIPAA requirements.

The position involves handling patient health information, maintaining confidentiality, supporting medical records workflows, and providing customer service to patients, insurance companies, attorneys, and other authorized requestors. This is a full-time onsite role based in Oklahoma City, OK.

Requirements & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
  • Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
  • Adhere to company and customer facility code of conduct and policies
  • Inform manager of work issues, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes
  • Assist with additional duties as needed
  • Apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosure
  • Manage patient health records and safeguard records in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Prepare new patient charts and gather documents from paper sources and electronic health records
  • Ensure medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete
  • Create digital images of paperwork for the electronic medical record
  • Respond to requests for patient records from internal and external sources
  • Answer inbound and outbound calls
  • Assist with patient walk-ins when needed
  • Handle faxes, mail, data entry, and other administrative duties
  • Meet productivity expectations for the site
  • Schedule pick-ups when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
